In 1994, after many years of vacationing in the Florida Keys, Karen & John purchased a canal front lot on Big Pine Key. Shortly after the purchase they began construction and have occupied their home since 1995 as full time residents of the Keys. John’s background prior to moving to the keys was in insurance. Karen was a floral designer, managed a flower shop, and prior to that she worked in the insurance and banking industries.

Johns holds a business degree, a Master Captains License, and was a program coordinator and education specialist with the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary for over 8 years. An avid recreational diver and trained working diver, John’s love for the water has given him great experience in the waters of the Florida Keys. His background as a Captain in the Keys started in 1995 when he was partner and manager of a Middle Keys dive shop. He also has an eco-tour business White Heron Charters which he likes to promote as “come see my backyard”, an educational tour of Pine Channel and near shore patch reefs showing the relationship and role that different habitats play to the coral reef eco system, visiting the back country islands, sponge beds, and near shore coral reefs. John is the President of the Eden Pines Property Owners Association and a Director on the board of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce. He is also Past Vice-Chair of FAVOR, Friends And Volunteers Of Refuges.

Karen has served on the Board of FAVOR, and is an officer on the Big Pine Key Civic Association board. She is also an advanced open water diver and an avid boater and sailor. She has been a full time Realtor since 2001. John joined her at the inception of her real estate career as her assistant and later in 2003 obtained his license. They are multi million dollar top producers.
